BOTANICAL GARDEN

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCES

Taichung, Taiwan, ROC

Master planning, architectural and landscape design for a 13-acre urban botanic garden in the heart of metropolitan area.  The exhibits include simulated landscapes from seven ecologically distinct parts of Taiwan.  Delicate collections of unique species are located around a central water body which serves as backdrop of these abstract ecosystems.  Other facilities include a 10-story-high semi open climate controlled glasshouse with a tropical rainforest collection and Amazonian aquarium; a parking garage for buses and cars and an office/lab building.  All buildings are naturally ventilated.  There is a central open green space surrounded by collections for more active park use.
